With the latest shrimp season behind us, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the local community for your tremendous support of the Shem Creek Fleet.
Thanks to our loyal customers who buy directly from the captain, and to local groups like Save Shem Creek working to raise awareness for our boats, we were able to enjoy a successful season despite the pressures of cheap, imported shrimp and increasing costs.
We would like to also thank the restaurants who support the local fleet. We appreciate your business too.
There is no question that we wouldn’t be able to continue the tradition of bringing the Lowcountry’s bounty to your plates without your business. And we’re happy to tell you that contrary to popular belief, the local shrimp industry’s future can be bright with continued local support and increased awareness of the availability of fresh local shrimp. The shrimp creek fleet grew this year with the addition of new boats, and we intend to be a fixture on the creek for many years to come.
Thank you and we look forward to serving you again in May when the new season opens.
Capt. Wayne Magwood
On behalf of the Shem Creek Fleet
